UrbanTrekkers' professional internship program offers young adults the opportunity to help develop and implement experiential learning programs at UrbanPromise. As we expand to other UrbanPromise sites, we require additional support to implement our programs effectively. We seek young leaders with a background and interest in outdoor and environmental education to assist staff with current and future experiential learning opportunities.
Professional interns are responsible for planning and leading expeditions, building relationships with youth, training them in outdoor skills and adventure activities, and engaging them in lessons regarding environmental literacy, community advocacy, and stewardship.
Qualifications: Experience in youth and/or urban ministry and outdoor and/or environmental education; bachelor’s degree in an outdoor- or environment-related field; certification in wilderness first aid, wilderness training, swimming, sailing, paddling, cycling, and other outdoor activities is a plus; experience working with urban, underserved youth in grades 7 to 12 is a plus.
Commitment: 12 to 18 months; housing and a living allowance is provided.
If you are qualified and interested in a professional internship with UrbanTrekkers, please send your resume and a one-page letter of interest to Jim Cummings.
