New Student Orientation

Leadership Training

About This Trek...

A two day camping trip for the incoming freshman class. Throughout the trip, students will bond with fellow classmates by participating in a series of team building activities that include an outdoor challenge course and games. Students will be introduced to Trekker skills like camping, canoeing, and water safety. Students will also be meeting teachers and administrators who will share the culture and community of UrbanPromise along with the learning opportunities that are made available to them as students at UrbanPromise Academy.

Core Values

Outdoor Adventures

UrbanTrekkers participate and receive instruction in various outdoor activities, including canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water safety, biking, and camping. They will participate in each of these activities at least once over the course of their four years at UrbanPromise.

Environmental Awareness

Students are introduced to the seven “Leave No Trace” principles related to outdoor ethics and basic local ecology.

Leadership Training & Team-Building

Trekkers are introduced to the “Trekker” mentality and participate in team-building activities such as ropes courses and games that require teamwork. The goal of these is for students to get to know one another and initiate a sense of class cohesiveness.
