UrbanTrekkers Expansion

Through a generous grant from the Wallace Research Foundation, UrbanTrekkers is expanding our experiential and expeditionary programming to other UrbanPromise sites throughout the United States. With resources for staff, training, and travel, we now travel on a Colorado and Utah summer expedition each summer which takes students and staff from UrbanPromise Camden, Wilmington, Trenton, and Honduras through five national parks over the course of two weeks. We continue to look for opportunities for UrbanPromise sites around the world to incorporate experiential learning into their programs.

Twenty high school youth from four different UrbanPromise sites will journey across the country as part of the UrbanTrekkers cross-country expedition.

UrbanTrekkers visited five national parks in the western half of the United States. On this annual expedition, Trekkers hike, camp, and participate in a variety of cultural experiences and character-building activities.

UrbanPromise is located in four U.S. cities; however, UrbanTrekkers primarily operates at the Camden, NJ site. Because of this grant, three affiliate cities will participate in UrbanTrekkers programming.
